My TAUNUS II

very expensive TAUNUS picture

My TAUNUS 2.0 GL was built in December of 1976 and had six previous owners, before I bought it in 1990 for DM 1000.- with additional winter tires (tyres) and two year valid TÜV (sth. like the british MOT). The normally everlasting V6 engine broke down after two weeks (piston rings...).

Apart from the second engine, it has a third steering, the third driver's seat (I have no idea why the german TÜV describes the usually quite comfortable seats as 'worn out'...) and the second paint job (rolled!) as well as a GRANADA gear lever, and a CAPRI cooler. Besides that some Daimlers, and some washing machine metal sheets were welded beneath. May my TAUNUS escort me for a long long while.

One day in winter Stephan, Dirk-Uwe, Kampel and I had decided on a party that we have to leave Berlin for a couple of days. The Choice for the destination was Penemünde (East coast). The one for the moment of departure was next day morning (-20°C). The first stop was on a motorway restaurant, where Kampel ate the most disgusting Mitropa Curry sausage, which I ever have seen in my whole life, while I was trying to strangle down my coffee and to forget my hangover.

Anyhow, now I know that there is a Mitropa motorway restaurant in Finowfurt.

My TAUNUS was a great truck, too! There was no problem to even transport Schweineorgels.

For this the boot lid had to be dismounted and put on the back seats. Then put the organ into the boot (In this case it was a Hammond T500).

Unhappily there was also the time of goodbye in the life of my TAUNUS. He left me im summer 2002 after a perennial droughty stay in Denmark (many thanks to Britta and Gerhardt).
Snif!
In spite of all life saving sanctions (many thanks to Hanno), the injuries caused by the time were to deep and serious...
I'll never forget you!
